Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my Substack. I've been wanting to get into writing professionally for a while, and this is going to act as a portfolio of some of my articles, short stories and poems.
What to expect
I’m mostly using this as a platform as a means to publish my various writings these will include:
1. Poems
I took up poetry a few months ago in order to improve my abilities writing dialogue well. I’ll share anything I write sporadically, so as to get it out there, I make no promise of them being any good, but I hope they’ll be a learn curve for me.
2. Film Reviews
I’m a film maker by educational background, and films are one of my great passions. Most of the reviews I post here with have originated on my Letterboxd account (richard_Cubitt). I’m currently attempting to watch and review 100 animated films, and will be posting my reviews for this weekly.
3. Articles
I’m mostly attempting to move towards a career in nonfictional writing, and will be trying to write a regular article on something that interests me. These will often be on some forgotten aspect of local history, but may also include film history, and politics, based on what I’ve been thinking about each week.
4. Short Stories
I’m trying to get into short story writing to help improve my creative process, and will share any I’m proud enough of to share here.
